Dubai Chamber of Digital Economy hosts a workshop on cryptocurrency and metaverse

The Dubai Chamber for Digital Economy, the chamber that supports the growth of the digital economy in the emirate, recently concluded a workshop on topics related to Metaverse and cryptocurrency as part of its ongoing series.

According to the announcement, the recent workshop discussed ideas, opportunities and challenges facing the sector, and ways in which development can be accelerated in the metaverse and crypto sectors.

The workshop was attended by senior executives, business leaders and entrepreneurs in the metaverse and cryptocurrency sectors, including Vice President of the Chamber, Ahmed Bin Byat, and Board Members Hind Siddiqui, Fadi Ghandour and Dany Farha.

Bin Byat commented in this regard: “Dubai enjoys a healthy and vibrant digital ecosystem, as it welcomes digital companies in various economic sectors,” and added, “The adoption of Metaverse is increasing rapidly.”

Bin Byat added that the series of workshops that the Chamber plans to continue hosting is a platform that helps connect “like-minded leaders to discover the latest developments in the sector and provide a space for meaningful discussions.”

The Dubai Chamber of Digital Economy initiative comes at a time when Dubai is positioning itself as a hub for digital innovation by exploring and benefiting from emerging technologies. On January 4, Dubai Ruler and UAE Vice President Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum unveiled the Dubai Economic Agenda (D33), which aims to double the size of the emirate’s economy over the next 10 years.

Among the many goals set by the initiative, the local government plans to launch a “Sandbox Dubai” to enable testing and commercialization of new technologies and to make the emirate a global hub for innovation.

Last year, the Dubai government unveiled the Dubai Metaverse Strategy, which aims to create 40,000 virtual jobs and $4 billion in the emirate’s economy by 2030. And just last month, the Virtual Asset Regulatory Authority (VARA), the regulator For digital currencies in the emirate, a new regulatory framework to guide and supervise Virtual Asset Service Providers (VASPs)
