Sanchez visited several countries in the past few days in a diplomatic effort to garner support for the recognition of a Palestinian state, stressing his intention to take this step in the coming months.
Montenegro, who met with Sanchez in Madrid, said, “Portugal will support granting Palestine full membership in the United Nations during an upcoming vote in the General Assembly of the international organization, but will wait until the European Union reaches a common position on this issue.”
