Statement by the Federation of Educational Institutions: Cancellation of the word “aid”

The Federation of Private Educational Institutions in Lebanon confirmed in a statement, “After the meeting that took place in the Parliament on April 24, headed by President Elias Bou Saab, and in the presence of representatives from the Federation of Private Educational Institutions and the Teachers Syndicate, President Bou Saab announced after the meeting what had been agreed upon.” It specifically addresses the following points:

– First, making a specific amendment to Law 515/1996 requiring the suspension of Clause “C” of Article Two for a period of three years.

Secondly, making an amendment to the law issued on 12/15/2023 to remove the word “aid” from the text, and delaying its implementation until October 1, 2024.

Third, holding a special session related to the work system followed by the Compensation Fund for members of the educational staff in private schools and the necessary amendments that must be approved so that the Fund can fulfill its role towards current and retired teachers.

Fourth, requesting the Council of Ministers to issue a decree forming a new supervisory council for the compensation fund for members of the educational staff in private schools based on the proposal submitted by the Minister of Education more than a month ago.
