Retail sales in America are rising

Retail sales in the United States rose more than expected in March amid a jump in revenues from online retailers, in another indication that the US economy ended the first quarter on solid ground.

The Statistics Office of the Ministry of Commerce said on Monday that retail sales rose 0.7% last month.

February data was revised upward to show sales growth of 0.9% and not 0.6% as reported in previous data.

Economists had expected in a Reuters poll that retail sales, which are mostly goods and not adjusted for inflation, would rise by 0.3% in March. (Al-Arabiya)
